Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the sun data?

PhotoPlanner uses a custom NOAA Solar Calculator based on Jean Meeus' "Astronomical Algorithms." Sunrise and sunset are accurate to one minute. Azimuth and altitude to fractions of a degree.

Does it work on Mac and Apple Watch?

Yes. Native on all three platforms. The Mac version includes a Session Planner for comparing golden hour across multiple locations. Apple Watch includes a sun compass and golden hour complications.

What does the free version include?

Up to 10 locations, 3 photos per location, and 1 collection. Pro unlocks unlimited everything, plus the date picker, sun arc, auto-suggest photos, notifications, import/export, and watch complications.

Is my location data shared?

No. Location data stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. We never collect or transmit it.

Can I plan shoots for future dates?

With Pro, you can calculate sun positions and lighting conditions for any date.
